Mission Statement:
To make the broader military community, and the public at large, better aware of the ongoing role of the SEABEES as U.S. Navy combat troops and construction workers heavily involved in national defense and humanitarian aid worldwide. |
SEABEES SAY!: SEABEE Flag proudly flown in Iraq to be lasting tribute to
SEABEES who served and died there.
"This flag represents the love and prayers of all those who await your
safe return. Keep it with you everywhere you go and guard it well. Fly it
proudly to display the "CAN DO" spirit of the SEABEES for all to see. Let it be
your visible link with loved ones, friends, and supporters back home. It will
accompany the
SEABEES on their return from serving their country, and the cause of
freedom, far from their own homes.
Once back in its homeland, this proud symbol will be donated to the SEABEE
Museum and Memorial Park in Davisville,Rhode Island, site of "The Original
Home of the SEABEES." There it shall rest from its long journey and serve as
fitting tribute to all SEABEES who selflessly served with distinction in
"Operation Iraqi Freedom."
This flag is provided courtesy of: "OPERATION SEABEES KNOWLEDGE"
The dedication above was presented to Construction Mechanic Chief Lee Longacre
of NMCB-14 prior to reporting for active duty. The deaths of seven NMCB-14
members in Iraq have since made this dedication and the flag that
accompanies our SEABEE shipmates in Iraq an even more powerful symbol and tribute than
was originally anticipated.
