Naval Construction Battalion Center, Davisville, R.I. 1981 and later

[OPERATION SEABEES KNOWLEDGE / seabeesinfohq.org] This page is dedicated to presenting and preserving part of the legacy which the Naval Construction Battalion Center, Davisville, R.I. has provided to the U.S. Navy, the State of R. I., and to all the men and women who served there in any capacity during its long and colorful history. From the earliest formation of naval construction units at the beginning of WWII, through that war and several others, Davisville personnel have trained and supported the men and women who made legendary contributions to the safety of freedom in this country and around the world. In the peacetime periods between active conflicts, Davisville continued to fill a vital role in maintaining readiness for large scale mobilization of manpower and materiel needed in potential future operations. This included training of reservists, storage of equipment needed for rapid deployment in a contingency, and maintaining equipment and supplies used by active forces. After final de-commissioning as a Naval Base, Davisville is being transformed into a new seaport and trade facility which will provide needed economic benefit to the State and region. Finally, a Seabee Museum and Memorial Park will forever honor the men and women who sacrificed and worked miracles in their own special "Seabee" way, to create the legend of the U.S. Navy "SeaBees"
