Mabey-Johhson Bridges Specs and Availability?
Bart Marcois Asks Stormin:
Date: Fri, 9 Jul 2004
I'm not sure you can help me, but I'm looking for someone who can tell me a
ltitle about maybe Johnson bridges. From context, I assume they are steel
frame sectional bridges that can be carried around and quickly and easily
installed in a hostile or rough environment.
Are they still around, who makes them, what's their official name, do the
Seabees still use them, how can I find out more info on their specs and
availability?
Thanks.
Bart, Responding to your request for info on Mabey-Johnson Bridges. Here
are some great photos of SEABEES actually building one of those bridges in
Iraq! They start on page 7 and run through to page 9 of this official Navy News
Service photo gallery. Enjoy! More later as I dig it up.

Bart, This is the story behind the bridge photos, supplied by my fellow NSVA
member and "OPERATION SEABEES KNOWLEDGE VOLUNTEER", Tom Marone of
Harrisburg, Pa. Enjoy!

Bart, More from a retired SEABEE officer, CDR Wood. This is actually a
website from the Marines. You have to scroll through everything. There's a lot of
great bridge pics mixed in with a lot of other stuff. It gives a slightly
more complete photo record of the bridge in use. ATWWOSK ! "Stormin' "
